We were busy
this year implementing a new landscape plan with Cathy Court of
Landscape Gardens & Design.
We decided to locate our B&B in East Boothbay because the Boothbay Region is one of the best destination areas in the State of Maine. There are so many activities and events offered here and the beauty of the peninsula is outstanding through all four seasons. Over the years the length of stay of our guests has been increasing to take full advantage of what the area has to offer. These include: Puffin & Whale Watches, sailing on a windjammer, excursion boats for harbor and lighthouse tours, kayak, lobster bakes, museums, art galleries, antique stores, great shopping, seafood restaurants, golf, tennis, music, hiking, historic sites, sport fishing, or your visit can be a peaceful time to relax and refresh your soul.
Traveling south on Route 1 brings you to the antique stores in Wiscasset, the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, the L.L. Bean Store in Freeport, and Portland Head Light, historic sites and shops in the Old Port area of Portland. Don’t forget to spend a day on Monhegan Island where you can hike trails high above the ocean or stroll through the village and visit the art studios. Marti & Larry will be happy to help you plan a memorable day in Boothbay or a day trip around mid-coast Maine. Penguin Plunge Sail on the Tribute The
Boothbay Region Offers One of the
great benefits of visiting this area is the opportunity to be outdoors
and enjoy the natural beauty of Maine. One of the jewels of our
peninsula is the Boothbay Region Land Trust. There are 15 BRLT
properties, which offer degrees of hiking from moderately easy to good
exercise Another jewel in Boothbay is the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which is Maine’s first major botanical garden. Started in 1991 by a small group of people, the gardens are located on 128 acres and are a perfect way to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Maine woods and the rocky shore. There are two miles of walks, trails and drives to the gardens. Enjoy the Fern, Wetlands, Shoreland, and Rhododendron Gardens. The CMBG is growing and in 2006 an Education and Visitor Center and five acres of themed gardens will open. Some of the events planned for 2005 include: June- “Art in the Garden’ Gala, July 15 – “Hidden Treasures” House & Garden Tour, August 13 – “Annual Island Tour,” and December 10 – “Winter Wonderland Holiday House Tour.” For more information on events and workshops sponsored by The Opera House at Boothbay
Harbor In 2003 a group of residents
became the new owners of the legendary Opera House. It is now operated as a
not-for-profit organization and the owners have created a place for
performances and activity for the creative life of the Boothbay region.
Events are being scheduled for 2005 including an Oscars Party on February 27 and a concert by Blues rocker Rory Block on March 12. The Lincoln Arts Festival has scheduled the following concerts: A Tribute to Al Corey, Big Band Concert on July 15, Muriel Havenstein on July 20, and the Glen Miller Band on July 23. For updated
