Three Diamond Ratings from AAA

For the second year in a row we have received a Three-Diamond Rating from AAA and are very pleased that we are rated in this category. According to the AAA rating guide Three Diamond Properties “offer a degree of sophistication, additional amenities, services and facilities may be offered, and there is a noticeable upgrade in physical attributes, services, and comfort.”

We are listed in two tour books. “The Unofficial Guide to Bed & Breakfasts in New England” 1st edition and “Lonely Planet-New England” both have descriptions and short write-ups about us. The first tour book gave us a  rating and noted, “His fresh-baked cookies are great with tea or cider and their philosophy is no one should leave the table hungry.”

Lonely Planet, a publication popular with our European travelers, mentions: “The village of East Boothbay, 2 miles from Boothbay harbor, is not as touristy or commercialized as Boothbay Harbor. It’s a lot more like the real Maine. The Linekin Bay B&B is owned by an extremely amicable former police officer.” A former guest was responsible for getting us into this book.

Along with The Greenleaf Inn and Lion d’Or B&B in Boothbay Harbor we will be putting together a Murder Mystery Weekend on February 2nd and 3rd. On Friday night all guests from the three inns will meet at The Greenleaf Inn for a welcoming party where Christopher’s Boathouse will cater scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and the murder mystery will begin. This will be a BYOB event and Jeff, the owner of the Greenleaf Inn, will supply mixes.

This is a “guest participation program” where everyone will play a character in the murder mystery. You will be given a character and other information before you come here for the weekend. All guests will meet for wine and dinner at Christopher’s Boathouse on Saturday night where we will conclude the mystery. Perhaps you will be the super sleuth who solves the mystery.

Space is limited, so if you’d like to come to the Maine Coast, stay at a romantic Victorian bed & breakfast overlooking Linekin Bay, and solve a murder, please let us know. The weekend Murder Mystery package includes a two night stay at the Linekin Bay B&B with two full breakfasts, the Friday evening get-together at the Greenleaf Inn with catered hors d’oeuvres, and wine and dinner at Christopher’s Boathouse on Saturday night. The cost for the package is $400 per couple.

Included with printed copies of Ebb Tidings is one of our new postcards. Arriving guests will have two stamped postcards in their rooms. Just fill it out and we’ll mail it for you.

ROMANTIC GETAWAY PACKAGE

Again this year we are proud to announce our “Romantic Getaway Package.” This special, which runs from January until the end of April, includes a two-night stay at our B&B. A bottle of sparkling cider and cheese and crackers will greet you when you check into your room, which features a fireplace and spectacular view of Linekin Bay.

Next, it’s decision time as you have the choice of a $25 gift certificate to our local restaurant, The Carriage House, where you can enjoy a fine entrée from their varied menu or choose 2 high quality embroidered Linekin Bay B&B T-shirts from our E & E Holbrook Store.

One of the nicest things about East Boothbay is Ocean Point. Many people start their day with a walk or jog along the twisting road to see the sunrise, listen to the foghorn on Ram Island or watch a lobster boat heading out to sea. Evening brings its own beauty with sunsets that are spectacular.

This brings us to another part of your package. You will receive a coupon for 2 subs, 2 sodas or bottles of water and complimentary pastries from the historic East Boothbay General Store. Take this picnic to Ocean Point where you can sit on the rocks and enjoy a breathtaking view. Marsh & Tammy Irving have made a point of having The East Boothbay General Store known for its great sandwiches, pastries, and wines.

How about an original painting from watercolorist Richard Secor of School Street Gallery or a beautiful photograph by his wife Melissa Goodwin? Both of their works are on display at our inn. As part of your package you will receive a coupon good for 10% off the price of a painting or photograph on display throughout our inn.

You will also receive a 10% off coupon from Mack Bear Gallery and Unique Gift Shop. George & Susan Bear feature original stained glass kaleidoscopes and unique glass art. They are located one-half mile from our inn and will be open by appt. during the quiet season. Larry will be happy to make the call for you.

Ocean Point Studio/Visions of Maine located on Van Horn Road features oil and watercolor paintings. Owner Corrine McIntyre focuses her paintings on the coastal landscape that she loves so dearly. She is offering our guests 10% off.

So you say what is the cost for this “Romantic Getaway Package?” For The Holbrook Suite it is $230, Rhapsody in Blue is $200, and Crooked Chimney is $190 (plus 7% room & lodging tax).

We would like to thank those guests who have made return stays to our B&B. It is like having family members come for a visit. We enjoy getting to know our guests and seeing familiar faces come through our door is a great pleasure.

This recipe is best when made and refrigerated over night. It offers flexibility as you can use ham or vegetarian sausage depending on the dietary wishes of your guests.

Ingredients:
3 cups frozen hash browns
¾ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup diced fully cooked ham or vegetarian sausage
¼ cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped red or green pepper
4 eggs
1 tsp. dried mustard
¼ tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. salt
12 oz. evaporated milk

Place potatoes in 8” square sprayed baking dish. Sprinkle cheese, ham (veg. sausage), onions, & pepper over this. Beat eggs, milk, mustard, salt, & pepper. Pour this mixture over all. Cover and place in fridge over night. Remove 30 mins. before baking at 350 degrees for 55-60 mins. (until center is set).
